are there signs of oils from handling or ares of wear that might suggest other possible orientations? the diamond shape certainly indicates an area that might be seen, although a magician may flip/ spin/ rotate an apparatus as a flourish in its setup and presentation.
the metal clip that is hiding inside looks like something that slides out to perhaps protect an arm as the blade is propelled down perhaps? any other clues for us? cut marks? the tape wrap on the clips looks like medical wrapping tape.
