I have always been fascinated by automata. That there is still somebody that is able to use the craft of the clock-maker is quite heartening. In this day where people are wowed by computer-generated animation (one of my pet peeves), I find the use of simple (okay, not so simple) machanism to give \"life\" to carved wood or ceramic an amazing example of human ingenuity.

Wow...nice article. That\'s really amazing that he has no website, adress to a workshop or anything. But what a legend to magic! Thanks for the post!

John Gaughan is the modern time successor of Robert Houdin (french magician and creator of the most beautiful magic automata).

Magic history needs that kind of guy to keep magic alive against time.

Congratulations M. Gaughan. You are a modern time magic hero. Thank you for every effort done to the cause of modern magic.

Best regards from Quebec Canada
