The build-up of hanging upside down for 60 hours was witnessed by thousands in New York's Central Park.  But the ultimate conclusion of this feat, failed to excite audiences in person or on TV.  Blaine merely jumped off a platform feet-first while supported by cables.  It had less excitement than a bungee jump that is attempted routinely by novices everyday.  He received boos and jeers from the live audience.

After, Blaine's Death Dive, he floated magically away. In an interview after the stunt, Blaine admits that wind conditions did not allow for the end of the stunt to go as planned.  What Blaine described was supposed to have happened was that he was only supposed to drop a few feet before rising up in the air. Based on the description, it is not totally clear if the audience reaction would have been much different that was actually witnessed.
