Keith Barry, an Irish mentalist and close-up magician, was performing at his limited engagement at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on November 5th. In the audience was magician Criss Angel, who was enjoying a day off from his Believe show at the nearby Luxor. Angel was accompanied with Playboy next-door model, Holly Madison, and 2 bodyguards. While the title of this book may lead you to believe it is not appropriate for the professional magicians, it is a significant apparatus book with numerous fine line illustrations and photographs over 37 chapters covering over 500 tricks over nearly 400 pages. It was actually released as "Successful Conjuring for Amateurs" for the UK market and "Successful Magic for Amateurs" for the US market with no other notable differences. These books by Micky Hades are quite unique and are some of the few that address magic apparatus from the perspective of the builder. Aside from the somewhat confusing title, this book covers the design and construction of magic apparatus. There are numerous tips and also various principles and methods explained.
