Magic Lessons - Boosts Children's Confidence

Professor Richard Wiseman, a UK psychologist and magic enthusiast, has found that students that were taught magic tricks showed an increase in confidence than traditional social skill classes.  Students from the ages of 10-12 were shown various magic tricks, practiced them, and then performed them in front of their class. "Tricks develop self-esteem, confidence and empathy. These are all useful traits to teach children," says Wiseman.

More Exclusive Magical Secrets by Will Goldston

While the first book of the "locked book" series by Will Goldston has been reprinted in mass quantities in paperback, this book does not suffer from the same overexposure.  This extensive magical work is divided into 10 parts. Parts 1 and 2 cover pocket and small apparatus tricks. “A New Card Box” adds function and complexity to the old style box with a loose flap that “every school boy knows.”  “The Ubiquitous Rabbit” is a sort of rabbit die box , however, instead of the sucker routine the rabbit is shown to move from side to side and the two doors and opened and closed. “The Orange Box” involves 6 separate wood pieces show to be innocent and assembled to form a box. A long hat pin is place through two home running through the box and uopn opening a previously vanished orange appears impaled upon the pin.

Restoring Vintage and Old Magic Tricks, Illusions and Apparatus

Collectors of magic know how important the condition of apparatus is to its value. But sometimes, we don’t always find magic tricks and apparatus in the condition we want and decide to tackle a restoration project.  A restoration project can increase the value of your apparatus but could also decrease the value if not done well.  I don’t consider myself an expert on this subject but have various projects I have worked on restoring vintage magic, so thought I would share some examples.
